The Argo website contains lots of information about the ways that scientists track ocean currents.
November 14: Latitude and Longitude. Please follow this link to an interactive website that reviews the concepts of latitude and longitude. In your notes, please explain the difference between latitude and longitude in a way that will help you to remember which one is which on a map. After working through the website pages for latitude and longitude, test your understanding of these mapping concepts by correctly plotting AT LEAST 8 COORDINATES on the "Latitude and Longitude" Activity.
Once you are confident that you can use latitude and longitude to map locations on our planet, please download the below document, ocean_circulation_overview.docx and work through it, using your laptop where needed. You will also need a blue Earth Science textbook (on the shelf by my desk) to answer some of the questions. PLEASE return them neatly to the shelf once you are finished using the book. Thanks!
